If you enjoy looking at birds in your backyard, and who wouldn’t, you should seriously considering signing up for Project FeederWatch if you have not already done so. It begins on November 1, and continues through to April 30. All it entails is choosing 2 days a week and watching birds at your feeders or in your yard for as long or as short a period of time as you want during those days and then reporting what you saw online. (If you don’t or can’t join by November 1, not to worry, you can join anytime later over the next few weeks.) For detailed instructions on how to count birds for this project see: https://feederwatch.org/about/detailed-instructions/.
You have to become a member of Birds Canada to join, but the amount of your membership is up to you. (With a donation of $50 or more, you get Birds Canada’s BirdWatch Canada magazine.) To join, click on: https://www.birdscanada.org/you-can-help/project-feederwatch/.
